Sugar Nellie Flora stamp

I had so much fun coloring this Flora Simply Adorable Sugar Nellie stamp this weekend. The Simply Adorable stamps are so easy to color even though they look very difficult. I hope you like it.

Also if you haven't seen the improvement I made in my Copic case, check it out here.

Have a good day.

Sassy Scrapper Class

Loralie Designs are some fun stamps to work with. They are one of the few stamps that you are allowed to resize after you stamp them. I had to do that when I combined the 2 stamps together as the stamps did not physically have the same proportions as on the stamp envelop. I will be teaching a class in how to use your Copics to draw/color the "patterned fabrics" on a stamped image at Schmitt Photo (812-473-0245) on July 14 at 5:30 pm. We will make a 2 page layout with the images or you make make cards with your images.
 Copic Colors:
B24, B27, YG00, YGF63, C2, Y35, E15, E08, E31, E33, E35, E00, E11, R20, R37
and a white Signo pen

Butterfly card

Here is a butterfly card that I made recently. The stamp is Lovely Butterflies from Loralie Designs. The package includes 2 different butterflies and 3 small flowers and 4 small embellishment stamps. The patterned  paper is from the Chanteuse Collection by Kaisercraft. The nice thing about the Loralie Designs stamps is that I found out that they can be resized to use them. That is unusual for a rubber stamp.

Granddaughter's Christening Gown

Last weekend my husband and I traveled to Memphis for our newest granddaughter's baptism. I crocheted her dress and I finished it the night before we left for Memphis. I was very excited to crochet her dress, but I will admit that the yarn was very difficult to work with.

Intermediate Copic Certification

Last Friday I attended the Intermediate Copic Certification class in Columbus, OH. It was the most awesome class. And Colleen Schann, the instructor, was amazing. My friend Rebecca and I traveled to Ohio to attend the class and had so much fun and learned so much. I can't wait until I have time to practice all I learned. If you have an opportunity, take this class.

Rebecca and I are traveling to Indianapolis for Colleen's Copic/Mixed Media class. I can't wait.

Copic Mixed Media Ink and Art Class

My friend Rebecca and I were fortunate to be able to attend the Copic Mixed Media Ink and  Art Class class in Indianapolis yesterday that was taught by Colleen Schaan and Bianca Mandity. It was awesome. Although I never considered myself an artist, it certainly did open the possibilites of other things to do with my Copic markers and ink. I has the most fun with the air brush. I had gotten an air brush system a year ago and was pretty much afraid to try it. I figured I would get ink all over everything. Not really. I was surprised how easy it was to control and how easy it was to attain different effects. I'm anxious to do more airbrushing now.

The most fun was probably the canvas that we made. Some of the ladies made some gorgeous canvases. Never having done something like this before, mine was a little weak. I still have some things I want to add to it and some things I want to fix. Never the less, I was happy with my first attempt and that it took less than 2 hours to do. It won't be my last I am sure.
We were also happy to see Marianne Walker there as well. We were excited to get to have both Marianne and Colleen there and to get them to autograph their new book The Copic Coloring Guide   that just came out this week.
 Myself, Marianne Walker, Rebecca Weztel

An update to my Copic storage box. Diana Matthews who we met at the Intermediate Copic Certification class in Columbus, OH made a Copic storage box like mine. But she made what I felt was a big improvement. Her husband had used dowel rods to hold up the four corners. The dowel rods fit tight and don't require and glue dots to hold the grids in place. The hold grid apparatus can be removed at once if necessary. She cut the top grid 20 holes by 19 holes and the bottom grid 19 by 19 holes. (The bottom is smaller because the sides slope in.) Diana did a great job and I like the improvement.

Scrapbook Storage

I'm always looking for a way to improve my storage in my scrapbooking room. I am really excited about this new storage solution that I found. I used four ArtBin Storage Cubes. These will hold all different combinations of ArtBin Super Satchels, Super Satchels Slims and Super Satchels Double Deep. As I showed in a previous post, I use a Double Deep to store my Copic Markers. The Satchels side in and out on rails. It is amazing how much this holds. I also have a Clip and Spin from Hobby Lobby on top of one of the cubes. I store my cling and clear stamps in their original packages on it.

Copic Marker Storage

I have been looking for the ideal Copic Marker storage for awhile. I would like one that keeps the markers in color order, has a cover for travel, doesn't cost too much money,  and most of all carries all of my growing collection. For now I think I have found an adequate solution. It only can hold Sketch and Caio markers. The original square markers do not fit, but I only had a hand full of them. By getting the ArtBin Super Satchel Double Deep container (model 6990AB) for a fantastic price, my total came to under $27.00. That includes the $12 I paid for a 2' x 4' egg-crate ceiling light tile I got at Lowe's. The picture show a package of 5 tiles but they can be bought singly at Lowe's or Home Depot.

The first picture shows the grid cut to fit into the bottom of the ArtBin container and 2 wooden "posts' are going to be holding up the back edge of the upper grid. Glue dots hold the wooden posts in place. The front edge of the upper grid will set on the inside from ledge just about handle height. When the top and bottom grids are in the right alignment, glue dot the bottom grid in place.

Glue dots were put on the front inside ledge and the top of the posts. That keeps the top grid from moving.
Here is my box with most of my markers in it. My blender refill is in the front and my Copic original blender pen is on the side. I later found a front hole that it fit into.

I am excited about having all of my marker in one place ready to go now. I need to give thanks for the ideas and help I had getting this together.  I combined 2 ideas I found here and here. And I couldn't have gotten it done without my terrific friend Rebecca who had a razor saw to cut the plastic grid for us. (A razor saw has 25 or more teeth per inch. Razor saws can be found at Art Supply Stores.)  If this Copic storage doesn't work for you, maybe you can find a picture here that would work. Just click on the picture you want and go to the blog for more information.

If you would like to see a smaller version of this case, check here.   The smaller version holds 186 Sketch and/or Ciao markers.

Sympathy Card

Tonight I found that I needed to create a sympathy card. I had just seen one on Darlene's blog and made mine basically the same except I put yellow cardstock as the base. I love the simplicity of the card design.

Another Sugar Nellie Class

I love the Sugar Nellie digital stamps.  This is the third class I have used them in. We will also use the resist papers from sei with the Copic markers. They were fun. The paper could match the colored image. If you would like to make these cards, join me at Schmitt Photo on April 12.

New Sugar Nellie Class Coming UP

I have a new Copic Marker Sugar Nellie digital stamps class coming up at Corner Crop. We will be coloring these two beautiful images and making them into cards. The Sugar Nellie stamps look difficult to color because of all the detail, but all that detail just makes them easier to color and so much fun to do.

My First Afghan

Even though I have crocheted for over 45 years, I've never crocheted an afghan before. Too much work! I just started out making a Granny square to teach a class in how to make Granny squares.  Then I thought I would make a doll blanket for my Granddaughter out of the squares. I took them on a 2 week vacation and when I got back I had enough squares to make a full afghan. So the doll blanket for my Granddaughter became an afghan for her.

This was so much fun that I crocheted a rug this week. I'll try and post the picture later.

Another Olivia picture

You can tell I am one very proud Grandma. Here is another picture of Olivia. Look at all that dark hair. Apparently she doesn't like her picture taken because she always has her eyes closed when the camera is snapped.

New Granddaughter

Yesterday our newest granddaughter Olivia was born. This is the first for our daughter Becky and her husband Wayne. She doesn't look a thing like her last sonogram picture. That picture looked a whole lot like her mother. Maybe when we see her with her eyes open.

Sugar Nellie Stamps

I was very excited to find these new Sugar Nellie digital stamps from Scotland. And I am excited to be teaching a class using them. Here is the first of two cards that will be in the class using the Joy stamp from the Simply Adorable series. I love the detail in the stamps. It makes it so much easier to color.
Copic colors used: E31, E50, E53, E00, E11, R00, B41, B45
